​Edwena Grant-Ochieng

Founder & Executive Director

Edwena combines her background in elementary education, nonprofit leadership, compliance, quality assurance, and human resources to ensure GELA operates with excellence, accountability, and compassion. Her leadership experience includes educational advocacy, organizational management, and human resources leadership at the nationally recognized Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Orethia Armstrong

Founder & Education Director

With 24 years in education, Orethia has served as a classroom teacher, Assistant ELA Coach, and Media Specialist across Florida and Alaska.

A two-time Teacher of the Year recipient and reading achievement leader, she designed GELA after decades of witnessing the impact early intervention can have on children's futures. Her passion is helping every child discover their God-given potential while empowering educators and families with practical tools for lasting success.
